ROMUkoppa is finally here
Mitä? Missä? Milloin?
ROMUn idea rakentuu älykkään roska-astian ROMUkopan, ROMUviesti -vastuullisuuskampanjoiden ja ROMUtieto -datankeruun ympärille, ja nyt pääsemme ensimmäistä kertaa kokeilemaan konseptiamme kokonaisena.
ROMUkoppa on tehty käsityönä, ja sen rakennuksesta ja materiaaleista löytyy lisää artikkelista Made in parveketyömaa. Kunnia ROMUn ohjelmistosta kuuluu tiimimme lahjakkaille ohjelmistokehittäjille. Pilotti ei kuitenkaan olisi mahdollinen ilman yhteistyökumppaniamme kauppakeskus REDIä, jonka tiloissa saamme toteuttaa visiomme ja testata konseptimme toimintaa. ROMUkoppa ja sen ympärille ajoittain rakentuvat teokset löytyvät REDIn K1-kerroksesta 4.1.2021 - 6.6.2021.
Miten?
ROMUkoppaa käytetään kuin mitä tahansa jätteiden lajitteluastiaa heittämällä sinne asianmukaisia jätelajeja, eli tässä tapauksessa muovipakkausjätettä. Siihen loppuvat kuitenkin ROMUkopan yhtäläisyydet tavallisiin roska-astioihin verrattuna. ROMUkoppa punnitsee sen sisään laitettavat muoviroskat, ja astiaan kertynyt kokonaispaino ilmestyy näytölle heti roskan heiton jälkeen. ROMUkoppa laskee ja näyttää roskan heittäjälle muovin kierrätyksestä koituvat hiilidioksidisäästöt ja vertaa niitä konkreettisiin arkipäivän tekoihin tai tekijöihin, joista koituu hiilidioksidipäästöjä, kuten kahvikupillisen valmistamiseen.
Laskelmista ja luvuista löytyy lisätietoja recycling tips -sivulta. Samalle sivulle on koottu myös helpot ohjeet siihen, mikä muovi sopii kierrätettäväksi ROMUkopan kautta. Muovien likaisuudellakaan ei tarvitse vaivata päätään, sillä muovipakkausjätteet pestään jatkokäsittelylaitoksessa!
Miksi?
ROMUn missio on normalisoida muovin kierrätys kaikkialla. Muovin kierrätyksen ei tarvitse olla vaivalloista, ja ideamme avulla pyrimmekin tekemään siitä helpompaa ja kannustavampaa.
What? Where? When?
This is the first time we can test our concept with ROMUkoppa, our smart plastic recycling bin. On top of ROMUkoppa our concept consists of ROMUviesti, which are different campaigns and ROMUtieto, the data collecting aspect.
We have built our first ROMUkoppa from scratch and you can find further information about the building process from the article Made in parveketyömaa. Our unique software is created by our talented software developers. We are thankful that REDI gave us the opportunity to have the pilot in their facility. The pilot will run from 4.1.2021 until 6.6.2021. It will consist of three campaigns and other happenings around ROMUkoppa. The recycling bin is located at the K1 floor.
How?
The bin works as a normal recycling bin, in other words you will throw your plastic waste in the bin. However, there end the similarities to a normal bin. ROMUkoppa will measure the overall weight of the plastic waste collected for each day. This number is shown directly to the user on the screen. The environmental impact will be shown by comparing this number to the carbon dioxide saved when recycling this amount of plastic. This carbon dioxide number will then be compared with a concrete action that increases or decreases the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere.

You don't even have to worry about the plastic being dirty, there is a cleaning line in the refinery!
